I am in the market for a 22 or 24 foot pontoon boat with 25 inch pontoons. It will probably be a Godfrey Sanpan or Aquapatio. I can get an 04 Sanpan 220re with a Yamaha f115 or an 04 Aquapatio 240re with a Suzuki df115 or df140. Neither boat has 3 pontoons. I don't mind spending extra money for the df140 if there is no down side to this much hp on a pontoon. It will be used for cruising and pulling toys, thus the reason for these engine choices.
I welcome any and all comments good or bad on these engines and boats.

fordtruck

If you can handle the cost, by all means get the largest motor the boat is rated for. You will not regret it, especially on a Pontoon. Been there and it's no fun owning a toon that's underpowered, although the 115 would push it along at a good clip and serve your needs. I would still opt for the Aquapatio 240 with the DF140 if money is no object. Good boat, Good Motor... On a side note, if I had it to do again, I would go with the 3 logs. Much Better ride in choppy water, better re-sale value and you get better speed out of them using the same motor. They also keep you drier, when in rough water, as they sit higher. Just a thought...

If you want to go fast, get a deck boat. I personally don't see much point of putting more than 100Hp on a 22' to 24' pontoon. That still gives you plenty of power for pulling a skier. Even a 75 will pull a skier behind a pontoon.
