Re: The boat shows are coming ...the boat shows are coming...
The two boat shows we have around here have gotten so pathic that I don't even bother woth going to them any more. Used to be that the vendors were just as interested in selling accessories and parts and they were new and used boats, not to mention trying to out-do each other on onything you wanted to purchase.

Now however, all they are interested in is selling as many new high-end baots as they can. Last year, most dealers wouldn't bring out a boat priced less than $50k.

If you are looking for anything else, they treat you like a lepar.

Accesioris? Forget it, Parts? Forget it. Saw something nifty on TV and want to know how to lay your hands on one.....forget about it. I was trying to find a battery isolator last year's show, and as soon as the salesman who came trotting up found out that I wasn't looking for a new boat, he rudly turned around and left without speaking to me anymore.

Well that pushed the wrong button with me, I went and found the dealer's manager and told him what had happened. He replied that his salesmen didn't have time to worry something as trivial as that. Say what?

Unfortunatly, that was the norm, not the exception. Since then I avoid all the stealerships around here with a passion, and am more than willing to tell what happened to anybody who will listen. And yes, I have mailed all the manufactures involved, but to date (11 months later) I have yet to recieve a reply.
