The first one of the year for me here in Raleigh, NC, although I was a bit dissapointed in that there were certainly many more boats then "stuff" , only a few booths of fishing equipment.

I did find a striper guide, I want to do some striper fishing this year up on Kerr lake.

Many nice boats, my sons picked out the one we need to buy, they even offered to donate their money jars.

It was a 32 foot cat, show price 199,999, delivered.

I was hoping to pick up some deals on some new captain chairs or some other boat stuff, but there were none there.

Tomatolord

It was pretty much the same for the Ft. Worth Boat Show.

Although we did have the opportunity to meet Deion Sanders and a wakeboard champion. There was also a magician.

Although I guess the magician could have come in handy financing one of the larger boats. :)

The two boat shows we have around here have gotten so pathic that I don't even bother woth going to them any more. Used to be that the vendors were just as interested in selling accessories and parts and they were new and used boats, not to mention trying to out-do each other on onything you wanted to purchase.

Now however, all they are interested in is selling as many new high-end baots as they can. Last year, most dealers wouldn't bring out a boat priced less than $50k. If you are looking for anything else, they treat you like a lepar.

Accesioris? Forget it, Parts? Forget it. Saw something nifty on TV and want to know how to lay your hands on one.....forget about it. I was trying to find a battery isolator last year's show, and as soon as the salesman who came trotting up found out that I wasn't looking for a new boat, he rudly turned around and left without speaking to me anymore. Well that pushed the wrong button with me, I went and found the dealer's manager and told him what had happened. He replied that his salesmen didn't have time to worry something as trivial as that. Say what?

Unfortunatly, that was the norm, not the exception. Since then I avoid all the stealerships around here with a passion, and am more than willing to tell what happened to anybody who will listen. And yes, I have mailed all the manufactures involved, but to date (11 months later) I have yet to recieve a reply.

Re: The boat shows are coming ...the boat shows are coming...

I scooted thru Toronto one yesterday... wish i had a bit more time.... a 55 footer for 1.4 million that didn't impress me at all... But then a Cruisers' 385 for $489,000 made me wish I was rich for a brief second... haha... beautiful boat.

Good show! but yeah... I would like more "clearance bin" type displays.... there were a few deals on stuff like bottom paint and oil changers etc...
They have the indoor lake again, but they don't do the PWC stunts and stuff anymore... just have it set up like an inwater show with floating docks and boats moored there.

Much more fun than when I used to work the show for my ex-wife's company....I used to hate it, as it was stressful. They could pretty accurately predict the whole year based on sales at the show.
