Took a friend out fishing this evening, Nice quiet evening, water just right for trying a buzz bait. Tied one on his pole and cast out by a secluded patch of lilly pads and was telling him how to use it and how fun it was when a big fish hits a buzzbait. Right when I was showing him the [just right retrieve speed] this fish boils out of the water and grabs it, It was picture perfect, Blew out of the water like nothing I have ever seen before. Dang, to have had that on video would have been priceless. Turned out to be a four pounder exactly. Of course, me with no camera.  He ended up catching several fish after that, actually a couple in the 2 & 3# range. We had a great evening, I love it when things like that happen. :D just wish it would have been him that caught it.

one time on Toledo Bend, I swear I am not making this up, I get the buzz bait back to the boat, as I'm lifting it out of the water, bass jumps up, grabs it, I caught that fish the whole fight took place out of the water.<br /><br />BTW, LubeDude, the "Classic Fishing Story" has to end with the words, "the big one got away."<br /><br /> :)

This time of the year is great, the wind has died down now and its great for topwater, froggin, buzzbaiting, ya know, all those things that are better when its calm.<br /><br />Dang I wish that new camera would show up.

Re: The clasic fishing story

i practically get the shakes when using a buzzbait around lilypads, the anticipation kills me. i usually end up jumping worse than the fish, and the buzzbait usually ends up passing my head at mach3. it is soooo hard to let them pull on it before setting the hook. i have best success at night, so i can't see them grab it.<br />it just stops bubbling, and then i feel 'em :D
