This is one of the most disturbing reports I've seen for a while;

UPDATE - An American soldier is being held after a grenade attack which injured 13 soldiers of the 101st Airborne Division in Kuwait, military officials say. US Central Command, which is running the war on Iraq, said today the attack took place at around 1.30 am (Kuwait time) at Camp Pennsylvania in Kuwait.

Eleven of the wounded were evacuated by helicopters to field hospitals in the area and two were treated at the scene, a US Army statement said. It said the attack was under investigation by the US Army Criminal Investigation Command.

"A suspect was taken into custody following the attack on elements of the 101st Airborne Division. The suspect is a soldier assigned to the division," the statement said.

Central Command gave no details of the wounded. It did not name the suspect or comment on a possible motive. US broadcaster Fox News said he was a Muslim American and that he had been described as "acting strange" before the attack.

A spokesman for the 101st said two grenades had been thrown into a command tent at Camp Pennsylvania, one of the desert bases from where US forces have launched an invasion to try to overthrow Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.

Col Chris Holden, head of a battalion of the 101st Airborne Division at nearby Camp New York, said he had stepped up patrols around his unit after the attack.

"When you have someone inside your camp who is dedicated to throwing a grenade inside a tent, there isn't much you can do," Holden told Reuters.

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/storydisplay.cfm?storyID=3251448&thesection=news&thesubsection=world

Yea they said that a big part of that group had left and that he was left behind because he was acting strange.

Well, duhhhh, I would think they would be watching him a little bit better giving where they were.

Yes sir SBN.

Must be why he was left behind. They may have thought he may have been a danger out in the field. Just think if he was acting strange and being in the field, his actions could have caused more lives to be lost by compromising the security of his fellow troops. He should have been detained in the brig! (where he is at now)

I just can't imagine how he could have been there being opposed to the war.

Being war time, I think his days of fate are numbered. He must have disregarded his 12 general rules of duty for his own selfish thoughts. He surely will be tried for treason, which is punishable by death! What a dumba$$

Which begs the question ,How many more of these infiltrated Jihad maggots do we have lurking in our military ranks.America had best wake up and wake up now to the reality of this global anti American movement and cease the pandering to these flower sniffing special interest groups that are worrying about violating someones civil rights. Now I'm wondering if we have enough spine left to give this vermin the medicine that he is due,or will we worry that the rest of Muslim America will be watching and go easier on him. We've got one soldier dead for sure, and if my memory serves me correct ,that constitutes the death pentalty for being a traitor. To hell with what any country or group feels about it.They can be dealt with next.
I hope the Navy and Marines are taking a good hard look at the potential for more of these cancer spores ,particularly ones within the intelligence ranks and carrier pilots. Can't be too careful.

If the press wasn't "embedded" in with the military, this scum would have already been dealt with. Because it's front page news, he'll just get a prison sentence just like Johnny Jihad.

Well,if y'all are following things as they develope, it looks like the Iraqis treat American pows like criminals. The least we can do is respond in kind.
"IwoJima" the place. If that don't do it, "HIROSHima" the hell-hole!!
Liberation should be removed from the top of the list, with citzens setting fire to reeds expected to be hiding American soldiers. In Iwo, we used flame throwers. These things are easy to make in the field, and they really could do wonders at dispersing a crowd!!

BassMan, it was reported on MSNBC that he was an American Muslim.

Like was said, if the media had not been present, he would be in a real deep fox hole right now.

Re: The enemy within

sorry, but from what i read, the guy is a recent convert to how'd they put it- "conventional islam"...

i don't know what to say on that. i guess maybe they had their suspicions, but were busy worrying about the iraqis to keep closer tabs on the guy. i love everyone as per my upbringing, but i'd hafta say, i'd not turn my back on that guy. and like was said, if not for media bringing up dead children, hospital wards, mothers of dead soldiers, etc... i'd have dragged him off as soon as i knew he was short 4 grenades, and questioned him at the butt end of a rifle. dammit

anyhow, war aint pretty, and if media wants to show all the emotions, they should remember the most important - all those putting their life on the line for their country. to hell with portraying the exceptions, this is not a soap opera. this is one side vs the other...

Re: The enemy within

If I were there and I saw him blow up other men like that I would have shot the bastart on the spot. But they can't do that because of all the morons over there with camras.
