Finally picked up a used OB for my old sea king runabout. I bought a 1966 65 HP Mercury OB. I notice after it sat on it's side all the way home, that there was some oil seepage around the water inlets on the lower.
I finally got around to draining it today. Once I opened it up I got about 2/3 water, 1/3 oil. I tried to loosen all bolts to drop lower and check water pump housing/gasket/pump fins, etc and got all bolts loose except the one that holds the cavitation plate fin on. The hole is too small to put a socket in and I can't seem to make out what type of nut, or screw or whatever seems to be holding it on.

Any suggestions? I figure if I get the lower off I should be able to see why my lower was full of water-cracked WP housing?

Desperate for advice....thanks!
Alockerbie
