Interesting idea brought up in another thread - what to name the little beast?

My thoughts on the naming of the lil guy - more on that later!

f it was a black truck, I was going to name it Rayven, may still get an airbrused Rayven front tag ...

Lil Red, Red Rayder, Rays Red Ride, Rays Dime, Redster, the lil guy (so pretty I keep calling the truck a she, eh ... , the smaller vehicles ive had have tended to be rather spartan, the vega and the 66 econoline come to mind, both called the little guy, rugged manly man sorta rigs (especially the 66 Econoline, with its 170 cube six, rugged as hell and quick if you could get the column shifter to go fast thru the gears, this thing is such a showboat compared to those tho, lol, Rays lil Showboat)

Tinboat Tugger, FourPlay, (room for three!!!)(nah, the one woman green eyed parade would get bent, lol) LS-1

Rayven tho, hmmmm, the exceedingly rare Red Rayven, since Im raving half the time anyway (philly area tends to knock off the g)

but if yall want to ruminate on a name, feel free!

:D :D :D :D :D :D

Re: The Name Game

since we haven't heard from Ray I'm thinking:

1) Is in jail for speeding 'cause the red truck looks fast

2) Is at about the 1K mark on the odo and going for 2K b4 reporting in

3) Stuck under the truck trying to figure how to install sway bar

Re: The Name Game

The only names my vehicles have had are the sort of names that I care not to share on this family oriented site. The names were usually expressed right about the time the vehicle broke down or needed some multi hundred dollar repair..... :D

lol, well, long day at school and I am under a lot of strain to get the sh!t off my desk so to speak

lousy piece of @)#(()$*#)( computer lost a document I was working on, almost blew a gasket

Riding to good old RU, I was listening to the stereo, and looked down at the speedo, doing just over 80 mph, ACKKKKKKKKK !!!!!

almost had a cow, there goes the idea of break it in easy, but it was still only around 3000 rpm or so (the thing has a 4.10 rear, but an overdrive trans)

I was barely touching the gas too, it DO like to get on down the road, dont think I hurt it much :p

been cranking into those offramps faster and faster, methinks that sway bar minght not be too far down the road (still, I am VERY impressed

I do feel inordinantly tired, most peculiar, maybe ill take a 6 hour nap

Re: The Name Game

Yeah, I got the only speeding ticket I have ever recieved in the S-10 bug truck we have. Despite the 60 gallon spray tank full o' juice, Honda pump motor, countess other assorted killin' equipment all under a bed cap, that little 2.2 gets her up and keeps her up. We did have to install overload springs due to the rear sagging way too much under the weight. I was doing 60 in a 45 and didn't notice it until the Sheriffs rig lit my arse up. The only thing I can say is we have had weird electrical problems. Keep an eye on your wiring harness around the engine, we had it shift and get rubbed though by the fan belt, causing all sorts of havoc. Also, the selector for the vent/floor/defrost went south, so all we get is a mixture of everything. Its a standard cab so everything warms up pretty quick anyway...

and you dont even know it!

lol, but I can hear THIS argument

but officer snotnose, this is my first new truck, my old car let me know when I was going over 75, er, I mean, over 55

The Gran Fury is the worst of the lot tho, that old girl has almost three hundred thousand miles on her, and shell still sneak up to ninety on ya, you look down and its buried, lol, 318 with a four speed auto, wont die, but the air conditioner refuses all attempts to fix it, and shes dark blue

eh, send her up to alaska, let her run another 300K

it STILL doesnt use a drop of oil!

hmmmmmmmm .... maybe I should find a dakota four wheel drive with a blown motor .... or a ram charger ... oh god, not again

bad thought!!!

bad!

bad!

Re: The Name Game

Better be careful there Ray. I once liked to fly around cornners in my 72 Triumph GT6+. While going around this one nice curve, banked just right. Wasn't nothing to go around at 100 to 110. This was even in a 35 zone.

Put new tires on it for auto=crossing. It handled better than it ever did. One night going around that curve at a 100 or so, the left rear tire folded over. Went into a 100 yard skid sideways right into a big utility pole! Completely destroyed the car, God must of pulled me out because I should have been killed. I stumbled away from it. Caused me to lose my license due to points. That was 21 years ago. Since then I haven't had any violations at all. That accident slowed my life down.

Sometimes feeling that "G"force on your butt going around curves is not worth it.

BTW, my car was red also.. Soooo Beee Carefulllll!!!!!No need to waste your education before you complete it. :D GOOD LUCK!....

SS

Hello Ray.
How about calling it after your writing style? Is it anything like your driving style?
I was thinking something like "little red roustabout"
Anyways, enjoy it and use it in good health!
