Two friends, one an Optimist and the other a Pessimist, could never quite agree on any topic of discussion. One day the Optimist decided he had found a good way to pull his friend out of his continual Pessimistic thinking.

The Optimist owned a hunting dog that could walk on water. His plan? Take the Pessimist and the dog out duck hunting in a boat.

They got out into the middle of the lake, and the Optimist brought down a duck. The dog immediately walked out across the water, retrieved the duck, and walked back to the boat.

The Optimist looked at his Pessimistic friend and said, ?What do you think about that??

The Pessimist replied, ?That dog can?t swim, can he??

Re: The Optimist and the Pessimist (c&p)

When the Optimist and the Pessimist were kids (they grew up next door to each other) their parents tried to change them-- while they were at school, the parents of the pessimist, trying to give him a more positive outlook, filled his room full of toys. The optimist's parents filled his room full of horse manure, trying to teach him life will sometimes bring disappointment.

They come home from school and go to their rooms. The parents wait a while and first they go into the pessimist's room. He's just sitting there. "Why aren't you playing with your toys?" they ask. "Awww, they're probably broken, or not as cool as they look on the box. I'll just be disappointed". So they go into the room of the optimist. He went and got a shovel and he's digging in the manure. What are you doing, son?"

"All this manure, there's got to be a pony down here somewhere!"
