Recently while in the hospital I lost my faithful fishing companion of sixteen years..She was a Chocolate Lab who fished as hard as i did..

She would follow every fish I reeled in and when nothing was happening she would sit and whine and look at me like where is the fish..

A friend sent this to me and thought i would share this with those who have ever lost that special friend..

http://www.indigo.org/rainbowbridge_ver2.html

Re: The Rainbow Bridge

I used to have a black lab who loved to fish also. His name was Hoser. He would live for the fishing trip. We lived on the shores of a 10acre pond, and he would sit in the water chest-deep, and wait for fish...Looking for all the world like a bear in a salmon stream. I never saw hium catch it, but according to my son, he actually caught a bluegill once.
For 17years, he was my friend when everyone else let me down. Knowing precisely what you are going thru, I feel your loss ,and words can't express how I hurt for you.

Jeff, so sorry to hear about your loss. Pets become part of the family and we mourn their passing much the same.

They spend their lives trying to please us. Their love and loyalty is unconditional. The only thing they ask in return is a simple touch or a hug. A small price to pay for such a sweet companion.

My thoughts are with you.

Just recently we saw a program about the people who raised and taught "Bart the bear". They talked about him alot because he'd died a year before this program was filmed. I was crying by the end of the show.

My deepest sympathies to you Jeff.

Chris.

I'm sorry, I couldn't watch that video to the end.

Hey Jeff! sorry to hear about your loss. thanks for the poem. i will keep it in mind. i am going thru the same thing right now. only i have been putting off the inevitable. my golden retriever 14 years old is not doing too well. big tumors all over and the vet told us that atleast one is more than likely cancerous. the old boy cant see, cant hear, and his hips are bad. i can just see him shrinking away. was once 90 pounds now down to about 60.i know i should have probably put him down already but i just am not ready. and he does not seem to be suffering. i am gonna miss him.

Re: The Rainbow Bridge

Few things are tougher than losing a four-legged member of your family. I've been through it too, and there are no words that make it easier. But, I learned that it is part of the whole experience of love, and tough as it is, there is something right about it. Can't put that into words, but I feel it deep down.

I do believe that there will be a time to be reunited with our pets, if that's what we want. I look forward to it.

Hang in there.

-dd-

Re: The Rainbow Bridge

The best friend a man has in this world may turn against him and become his enemy. His son or daughter that he has reared with loving care may prove ungrateful. Those who are nearest and dearest to us, those whom we trust with our happiness and our good name, may become traitors to their faith. The money that a man has, he may lose. It flies away from him, perhaps when he needs it the most. A man’s reputation may be sacrificed in a moment of ill-considered action. The people who are prone to fall on their knees to do us honor when success is with us may be the first to throw the stone of malice when failure settles its cloud upon our heads. The one absolutely unselfish friend that a man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him and the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous is his dog."
"Gentleman of the Jury, a man’s dog stands by him in prosperity and in poverty, in health and in sickness. He will sleep on the cold ground, where the wintry winds blow and the snow drives fiercely, if only he may be near his master’s side. He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer, he will lick the wounds and sores that encounters the roughness of the world. He guards the sleep of his pauper master as if he were a prince. When all other friends desert, he remains. When riches take wings and reputation falls to pieces, he is as constant in his love as the sun in its journey through the heavens."
"If fortune drives the master forth an outcast in the world, friendless and homeless, the faithful dog asks no higher privilege than that of accompanying him to guard against danger, to fight against his enemies. When the last scene of all comes, and death takes the master in its embrace and his body is laid away in the cold ground, no matter if all other friends pursue their way, there by his graveside will the noble dog be found, his head between his paws, his eyes sad but open in alert watchfulness, faithful and true even to death."

Sorry to hear the sad news Jeff, I know that your a man that loves his creatures, maybe even cats a tad bit. (jk) You know of my loss from a couple of years ago and I came here. Suggestions was to raise another pup. You know I did and it is a good feeling to keep on sharing the love.

I pray and hope things go great with you as well. Take care... :D
