Hey Guys i have a few problems i have two carburetors both r2gc rochester 2brl carb 1 is the one I rebuilt. Has a rough idle in the 800s and has great power thru most of the throtle range. but once the engine gets hot it wont run above cruise idle with out bogging out. The second one came on another engine engine starts GREAT and idles high around 1100 but i can only do about 1/2 throttle at 2600-3000 rpms or it will bog down. can any one give me some ideas on why or how to adjust.

Carb 2 is currently on the motor

Any trouble shooting ideas would be great.

adtl info on carb 2 i see a lot of excess fuel in the water thats been discharged. and a lot down the throat in the manifold after shutting down for like 2+ hrs

Re: The Tale Of two Carbs, Need Adjustment advice

Rebuilding carbs for me is about a 50/50 chance if it works or not. That's using an ultra sonic cleaner. I also worked on mostly salt water boats.
I also did this for a living up until last year when I retired :D
So trust me, if you didn't soak the carb in carb cleaner, blow out the passages with compressed air, and verified all passages. Then set everything to spec. and adjust the idle mixture after the carb was rebuilt. Then you don't stand much of a chance of your rebuilds working.

Idle mixture is set by ear on a 3.0L because there isn't a vacuum port on the intake. But you also have problems of a different head, and who knows what ignition system and timing you are using.

Thanks don

that's true so now my question is what approach would you take.

And what head do i have then is it for the 3.0 motor if so what year do u suggest to get the timing info and carb adjustment information out of the manual.
