First, I would like to say you guys are great!!! Been reading for awhile and finally needed some help. I have a Malibu Sling Shot 600 which weighs 675lbs dry + 80lb/s for 12 gallons gas, then my and I for a grand total of: 1000 lbs . Now I have a Johnson 115 with a 17 pitch SS prop and can hit 40 mph. My question is this; do you guys think a different pitch prop will increase WOT Speed? Also I want to be able to tow a towable with my 80lb daughter so this will be a huge deciding factor in prop choice. Any suggestions to get better speed + towing ability for my boat?

about 900 low on the RPM...
If your tach is right, you're running about 36mph...if the speed is GPS verified, you're turning about 5400RPM.
The speed, RPM and prop you give show about 2% slip, so we know something is reading incorrectly right off the bat, so..we need to know what kind of tach you have and how old, and then tell us how you are measuring speed. That will tell us which way to go.

I am thinking my tack is bad. I will replace it. I am using the not so accurate boat speedo

Just kinda slow for that light of a load on the motor
