i have posted a few different question about my boat, but i thought i should explain everything about my boat, and then some one may have some good ideas how to fix it.(1974 14' trihull with a 1974 johnson stinger 2 70hp)(compression 125 on all 3 cylinders) I purchased this out fit about a month ago. first time i took it out it was working fine then i ran into a low spot in the lake and instead of stopping i gun it(i know it was stupid)mud and grass came up flying and the motor bogged right down and overheated.then when we took it out the next time and we tried to get it full throttle the rpm would not go up but sometimes if you held the trottle down long enough the front of the boat would go down and the boat would fly,and sometimes not.then i found a spring inside the engine that belonged on the throttle i was toll it was to hold the choke open at full throttle, when it fell of i'm not sure but i put in on went to the lake and the boat worked very well untill later on then i could hardly get any rpms ,the bulb on the fuel line kept going soft we tried pumping it while we were driving but this did not change the rmps.when we would stop i would pump the bulb again this made starting the engine again easier.also when it started acting up it would sometime stall when i had the engine just idling.i also had to use the choke each time i started the engine.the top of the engine was little warm but i could easy keep my hand on the top or side of the engine, but if i take the top off i can touch but not keep my hand on the flywheel.i hope i have explained everything well.could it just be a fuel pump? any ideas

Lots of info, but the soft bulb looks like a problem.

I just had a problem with the fuel lines that run into each carb that created a similiar problem. The were old and cracked causing fuel to leak and the carbs to suck air, not to mention I was going through gas like mad.

Check the fuel lines that run into each carb. If they look cracked or brittle replace them. Test them by Sqeezing the bulb and look to see if fuel is escaping through any of the fuel lines running to the carbs.

Look for fuel in the water, this would indicate a fuel leak.

Check to make sure the valve is open on your fuel tank and that you have no kinks in your fuel line from the tank to the motor.

You may also have a bad bulb, the are cheap and Wal-mart sells them.

Also sounds like you might be running hot. Replace your impeller and make sure you have good water flow through the engine.
