Thermostat 86 4.3 Cobra

Is the o-ring the only thing that holds the thermostat up and in? I have a new one ready to going cleaning up the housing now, so I just pull old one out and seat the new one in with the o-ring or do you use a little goop on it Thanks for any replys.... I do have the Cobra manuel just said replace if bad.

No goop necessary. Maybe a little grease to slide it in easier.

seth, Thanks got it soaking to clean up insides alittle. Going fishing when I get back will give it ago Thanks for reply...

I would not use grease I put mine in dry and to me grease would aid that thing falling out

drem, just got home do I just pull out old one with pliers? Is the new one a pain to replace or slips right in.

Pick the rubber oring out first then make sure the groove is clean .Put new thermostat in then new oring on mine I actually had to heat the oring and stretch it a little bigger to get it to snap a little tighter in place. It should look even all around with the same amount of rubber

Thanks for all replys the hardest part was cleaning the crud out before replacing the thermostat. Went in real easy Thanks again now waiting for my cable and all should be good for a weekend boat fishing trip....:)
