thermostat cover leaking out small whole at base

my 98'mariner 90 3 cyl. is peeing strong after i recently replaced the water pump and t-stat, on the t-stat cover there is a small whole at the bottom of the cover, a small amt of h20 is coming out that whole, why?

The diaphram on the popet valve is bad

is the motor still cooling properly??

Easy fix. Need new diaphram and gasket. If you have no problem getting the housing screws out it's no prob.

P.S. It's not good to run engine with water coming out here. You will have major electrical problems if you have water spouting on engine.
