thermostat location

I have a 1984 evinrude 35 and I am searching for the location of the thermostats.I looked for the access points the manual I have states they are but found no tell tale that looks anything like those .I could use some help please. THANKS,John

It is part of the cylinder head. Part number 19 in this diagram... You would need to remove the cover, part number 53 to get access to it. Seeing as you're in Norfolk, VA, if this is a saltwater motor, that might be a dicey operation...

The diagram really helped (I didn't remove wrong cover) the job is complete.I was using Selco manual and it didn't ref this cover.I have an old tracker3 that was lake kept I am working on.water pump is next.Thanks again,John
