I have a heat exchanger problems on my volvo penta 7.4. I changed my system to a full cooling system. I been have issues that it overheats when running below 1000 rpms. After countless hours trying to fix it, I finally thought about the thermostat. So today I was running the engine after replacing my raw water pump it still was doing the same thing. So I took out the thermostat and the boat ran at 140 degrees.The thermostat is mounted in the heat exchanger. My question is which is better. The thermostat mounted in the exchanger or in the block. Also if putting it back in the exchanger which way does the thermostat go in?
