Thermostat question.

Hey folks,<br /><br />I'm wondering what the effects of having no thermostat in my engine might be. It's a 3.8 GM/OMC outdrive Raw water cooled. :confused:

Yes you do need one. It helps maintain the right operating tempatures. Running a motor too cold is hard on a motor

Water can pass through the block to quickly and not remove the heat effectively, as mentioned in your last thread, thermostats are removed due to inexperience to try and solve a cooling problem when in reality it masks a different problem. Fit a correct stat and see what happens, if it overheats, look elswhere for the cause.
