They definitely are easier to remove than install. I tried reading most of the related posts and got some ideas but also some questions.
Take MIDSECTION cover off (4 bolts) and take out the 4(?) bolts holding LOWER engine cover to motor - will this give me much better access or am I oversimplifying and there is a lot more to it ?
If I use the parts breakdown schematic it shows from the valve body working towards engine 1) valve body 2)thermostat gasket 3)THERMOSTAT 4)GASKET DRL 5)Adaptor. Should 3 and 4 be reversed ?
Can I put most everything together and let sealant cure - 1 day and then do the hard part. Does this go against the purpose of the sealant without any squeeze on it? If so, I could put some clamps on them OR put bolts thru and add some washers, nuts and crank ?
My predecessors drilled holes to access the outside bolts.
People complain about the springs. I'd like to add the gasket sealant.
Maybe I am not picturing it correctly but where do people use the cable ties? From thermostat cover to inside gasket DRL or around those adaptor WINGS ? If around the gasket, what about the sealant ? Doesn't that get messed up?
I was not prepared on my first attempt. I got sealant all over therms, gaskets and valves. Whats best for cleaning them up? Acetone or alcohol? Can I clean gaskets (to avoid running 20 miles to shop but I might need some other stuff anyways like ... gasket sealnt) ?
Valves are supposed to move freely but everything goes against this. How do you keep them in place while fighting with springs and how do you not get sealant on them ?
Enough questions ? Took me over an hour to put this post together.
thanks
