They definitely are easier to remove than install. I tried reading most of the related posts and got some ideas but also some questions.

Take MIDSECTION cover off (4 bolts) and take out the 4(?) bolts holding LOWER engine cover to motor - will this give me much better access or am I oversimplifying and there is a lot more to it ?

If I use the parts breakdown schematic it shows from the valve body working towards engine 1) valve body 2)thermostat gasket 3)THERMOSTAT 4)GASKET DRL 5)Adaptor. Should 3 and 4 be reversed ?

Can I put most everything together and let sealant cure - 1 day and then do the hard part. Does this go against the purpose of the sealant without any squeeze on it? If so, I could put some clamps on them OR put bolts thru and add some washers, nuts and crank ?

My predecessors drilled holes to access the outside bolts.
People complain about the springs. I'd like to add the gasket sealant.

Maybe I am not picturing it correctly but where do people use the cable ties? From thermostat cover to inside gasket DRL or around those adaptor WINGS ? If around the gasket, what about the sealant ? Doesn't that get messed up?

I was not prepared on my first attempt. I got sealant all over therms, gaskets and valves. Whats best for cleaning them up? Acetone or alcohol? Can I clean gaskets (to avoid running 20 miles to shop but I might need some other stuff anyways like ... gasket sealnt) ?

Valves are supposed to move freely but everything goes against this. How do you keep them in place while fighting with springs and how do you not get sealant on them ?

Enough questions ? Took me over an hour to put this post together.

thanks

OK - RTV ... Ammonia cleans it. Just threw everything in a tupperware container including unused but gunked up gaskets. Shook it up a little and let it sit for a couple hours. All dissolved. Just need to wipe things down. I got new gaskets anyways but will put these aside until next time(hopefully not any time soon).

I have decided to put everything together with the sealant and run the bolts thru some steel plate. Torque some nuts on and let it set up for a day. Then I'll only have springs with valves in them as the only moving parts.

Round Cork Gaskets must be between the valve body and the thermostats.

Thanks for the heads up. Too bad, I would have liked to had the gasket with sealer holding them in place while putting back together. Actually I am going to bolt everything in place right to the ADAPTER but just not use any sealant at the ADAPTER and leave out the springs. I will pull eevrything back off tomorrow but have a few less moving pieces to deal with.
