i have remove the housing on my engine for the thermostat. so i could flush all the rust out of my engine. and then later after i have remove the majority of the rush i will put the thermostat back into my twin engine..

I know what and how the thermostat work. but this is a marine application..

i have also see the diagram of what and where the water goes when the thermostat is install properly. but for this marine application do i really need to install this thermostat.

also i have a water heater i believe there is two hose that connect to the housing for the thermostat to the water heater..?

how is the water heater work on the marine application. because i have trace a electrical wire that is connect to the side of the heater.. what is that two hose which lead to the thermostat housing..

Re: Thermostat Replacement?

one of 2 things can happen with out a thermostat.

1. The water passes through so fast that it does not have time to absorb heat.
2. Or (the opposite) your engine will never come up to operating temp.

They are important. Depending on the way your cooling system is plumbed it can have bad results.

Your water heater wont get very hot without the thermostadt either.
I'd definately go with a marine thermostat

If you are in salt water, don't even think about an automotive thermostat.
Get the right parts, and your boat will operate properly.
