Can anyone explain briefly how to go about removing the thermostat on a 1989 OMC Cobra 2.3L engine. I want to check to see if boat runs hot without it in. I have replaced the impeller although it was intact, the housing had a couple of spots where it appeared to have some melting. Is it a difficult job to remove the thermostat and can it be done without removing the thermostat housing. Any diagrams that can be provided of thermostat would be much appreciated - I have seen the engine diagram where the thermostat housing is located on front left of engine if standing in front of engine.
