Thermostat ?

Replacing the thermostat on my 1995 Mercury 5.7 . It came out with142 degree . Should I go with a 160 or stay with stock

Ayuh,..... Either should be fine, unless yer boatin' in the brine,.... if so, use the colder one,....

I just thought it was weird that they they offered me either and said that Mercury said I could use either. Is there any advantage/ disadvantages to running 20 degrees hotter?
