Thermostat's

I have a 1969 9.5 Evinrude. After seeing the cost of shipping here on iboats which is over half the cost of a thermostat, gaskets and Carb. kit #382048 (which i would like to find a complete carb kit) I was wondering if I could run the motor without a thermostat??

If you use the motor for fishing / trolling you should run with a thermostat.----I know of a dealer that ships free on orders ( small package ) of $79.00 Canadian funds.
