Currently, I'm on my first bike, that I've been riding for about 2 years now. $100 bike, that just needed some TLC to get her runnin. Does ok, but she's old. '81 XJ750. Gets around 40mpg normally.

Test rode the new Yamaha FZ6 today. Well, after I rode a Ninja 500. Ninja was a bit cramped, and too put-put with the 2 banger on it. Fell in love with the FZ6 almost instantly. Fuel injected R6 4 cylinder engine.

Looks like I'm about to drop $7k in the next month or so. And this should be a great commuter vehicle, when I start going downtown(Chicago) for summer school. About a 60-90 minute drive too. Lots of good break-in time there. :D

Nice looking ride. What color you gonna get?
My 2003 KLR650 will be on the road in a week from now.

I don't know yet. Kinda torn. They offer blue(Team Yamaha blue), and a red. I REALLY like the blue. But all my current gear has a read theme, as my old XJ is black w/red accents.

Oh, and for anyone who doesn't know...

Old bike(pic found on net):
On Thursday I picked one of those FZ6's up (off the road, literally). Truck pulled out in front of it, the collision spun the truck around and broke the rear axle of the Ford. Yammie was torn in 3 pieces. We life-flighted the bike driver. Be safe!

I was admiring what was left of the FZ6. It was blue.

Very nice bike ! I was out riding yesterday and I think the government shipped in a whole new batch of idiot drivers up here !
This says it about right ::
Motorcyclist thanks 'helpful' motorists

I am writing this letter to show my appreciation to all the local drivers
who have helped me develop my skills at motorcycle riding. Without your help
at honing my reflexes, I would not be able to ride at age 60.

Special thanks go to the following people:

The lady in the Mustang who shared my lane with me while holding a
cigarette in her left hand and a cup of coffee in the other hand. This
taught me how to ride on grass almost as well as pavement.

The lady who stopped 6 inches behind me at a red light. I guess she figured
she would assist me with a push if my bike choked down.

The gentleman who passed me and cut back in front of me with six feet to
spare. I blew my horn and got a friendly wave back. I'm sure sorry he has
only one finger on that hand.

Last, but not least are the truck drivers who play the game with me called
"Trap The Old Geezer." This is when one truck is in front of me, one behind
me and one on my left on Hwy 401 at 75 mph. Now I know what NASCAR drafting is
like.

If you drivers keep assisting me like this, I may be able to ride until I
am 70, or I won't have to worry about life in an old folks home.

Once again, I would like to thank you for your assistance.

I can verify canadian drivers suck, or at least the ones that wander the roads here.
they are just as apt to lock the brakes on a 5 lane highway and attempt to back up as they are to lock the brakes and attempt a U turn acrossed all 5 lanes as they are to take a left from the right lane and cross 4 other lanes with a right turn signal flashing.
the absolute most dangerous car on the road is a volvo wagon with a turttle top and ontario plates.
second is a subaru outback with a turttle top,5 kids, so much gear the back hatch is bulging and PA plates.

Hey, that doesn't look like a boat????? But a really cool bike just the same. Yamaha seems to make solid products whether they be outboard motors, snowmobiles, bikes, heck they used to make engines for ford in their taurus sho. CHICAGO!!! With the Dan Ryan down for repairs you should be an expert rider by the end of summer.

Creepy drivers in Chicago but still better than NY or Boston.
