Recently smoked my MEFI-3 ECm. and also broke an injector Well come to find out, these things are quite rare, and the price tag reflects that.

So instead of shelling out 3k for rebuilt stuff, was thinking carb. Who has a manifold for a raw water cooled gen 6, rectangle port with brass inserts for a 502. ?

In short, Are you insane?

Apart from the cost of getting all the MPI gear off, and the carb gear on, which would likely be more than repairing the MPI, you'll likely violate almost every pollution control law in your state. Get caught and you could face a custodial sentence.

Find a boat with the same engine that wasn't winterised properly and you have your parts. Or find a shop that repairs the ECUs. Plenty around....

Not sure what planet your from , but been googling all day and nobody but 1 guy repairs this MEFI-3 @ $1800 bucks.
Been all over the country with Ebay and Craigslist. Nope...No one seems to have a parts boat laying around with a 502 mefi-3.

Got any hot tips ? We have no Eco police so that is not a concern.

Yes, same intake as rectangular port 454s. Buddy Barr marine casts them for Mercruiser, Volvo, as well as PCM

they also cast them for Edelbrock and a few others

There is also Dart and Billy Mitchel (merlin) as well as world products

Use google, search for bbc rectangular port marine intake....thousands of listings show up

Total long shot but you may want to investigate the following linked company to see if maybe they have a repair site in house that may be able to help either by calling them or using their contact info at the top of the site.....http://www.technicalservicesin.com/index.php?page=ecm

There are other ways of locating aftermarket / lower cost fuel injectors that will match up to yours. Are there any "numbers" on your bad injector?

for what its worth, try contacting Arizona Speed & Marine. they do reprogramming of the MEFI-3's they can probably grab one off the shelf (new for under $1200) and dump in the stock mercruiser program. they probably have stock injectors as well.

Thanks for the tips, I'll call today. OBD diagnostics in Ca. is who I talked to yesterday. I've got an injector driver stuck on, so it's fouling #1,4,6 and 7. Says a repair is possible, with 60% success.

Where are you located in the country? There is someone here in the New Orleans area that may be able to help also.

He has no Mefi-3's, but said he can modify my harness and sell me a new mefi-4 for $1600.
That's a better deal than a refurbed 3, thanks for the tip
