Looks OK . . . the big thing to check with 22 year old boats is structural rot, soft floors, rotted transom, etc. Have the seller/marina take you out for a test ride, that should give you a decent indication of the engine condition, etc.

Rot and engine issues are probably the 2 biggies that can get you.

Price seems OK at around $4K . . . NADA is about $3500, but maybe a bit more for a boat in better condition, avec trailer

thank you for the advice. Hard thing is boat is a good drive away so I am asking a thousand questions before i make the drive. I will be going from a Volvo 4cyl to a Mercruiser 4.3l 6 cyl. Do you think I will notice a big difference in fuel consumption?

That is a HECK of a nice boat for the price. Good luck! Still check carefully but with an interior that cherry I'd be surprised if there was rot. Should move nicely with the 4.3. As for fuel consumption, with boats it's generally regarded that the bigger motor will use similar fuel as the smaller one going at the same speed. Of course the bigger motor has the capability to go faster and use more fuel.

The old Mariahs had a good quality reputation. That boat looks pretty nice for 22 years old. If the floors and transom are solid and it runs as good as it looks it will be a nice boat. All power boats are gas hogs. It will burn more gas than the 4 banger if you hammer it but if you drive it the sanely there won't be much difference.
