As a few guys have been saying, their cell calls keep getting dropped due to lousy reception in their area.
And since I only get good reception out the back of the house I bought this dockntalk unit for remoting my cell phone to an analog phone (POTS) pick up the phone, get a dial tone, dial the number, cell picks up and dials out.
For incoming calls just pick up the handset.

And whats better is that I can terminate it into the switch in pic#2 to give me a 2 line business phone system.

OK, in a nut shell.

The dockntalk turns the cell phone into a home phone like in the picture, it does what the home phone will do, lift up the hand set get dial tone and dial out, cell phone acts like the incoming/outgoing line.
(its blue tooth)

Now the second pic is of a business switch, I jumper wire to the blocks on the right of it instead of to a telephone and it gives the switch a second line to use.

Other guy is worse!

Like I said There is a sweat spot where reception is good in the house.
So thats where the dockntalk and cell phone will go.

I had horrible cell phone reception in my house. This was a fairly new situation. The carrier blamed it on overloaded towers due to the rise in use of smart phones. I ended up getting a 'network extender'. It works real good.

We have the poor signal thing at the house. Had to go way out front or the "Green Acres" on the roof. I have a sprint Phone, called them up and was provided an "Air Rave" for free. Now I have 5 bars in the house at all times. Sometimes technology is a great thing.

That is the way it should be if they want to keep you as a customer. I am with Verizon. I had to talk to 6 different people, cajoling them, threatening them and pleading with them before I ended up getting a Samsung 'network' extender' for $50. Originally they started out a $250.00. Then they reduced the price to $150.00 and said they could go no lower. Finally with my 6th call, I got a service rep to give me an additional $100. miscellaneous credit against my phone bill. This he did, in 5 different $20 credits. He said that he had to do it that way so he didn't have to get approval from higher up. Pretty clever and helpful that guy was.

Unlike Sprint, there are no monthly charges for the device. I own it outright.

My biggest arguing point was that for 15 years (as a Verizon customer) I had no reception issues in my house. All of a sudden, at the beginning of last year, the reception turned to ***t. I couldn't even sit at my computer and get a reliable signal.

With our homes location buried in trees/forest, reception this time of year is better then when the leaves come out!

The thing about this unit is that you can put it 1000-2000 (depend on cable gauge) feet away from the analog phone and it will work, as well you could mount this on top of a mountain where there is reception and do a wired or wireless solution into a no reception area.

No monthly charge with mine either, but I don't own it. Sprint has the closest tower to the house. Every one we know that drives by our house drops their call. I live in a black hole.

rbh - looks like a great set up. I'm going to have to study it a bit more. See if I could rig something up for the Admiral's phone. We are not on the same plan.
