Continuing my seach for a cheap Starcraft and came across this one.

Seller says it's a 1970. It's an open bow.

What's wrong with these pictures?

Dude cut down the transom to make a short shaft motor fit on a long shaft transom. Then built the sides up to try to make up for the fact that he removed the splashwell.:facepalm:

I was thinking perhaps an IO converted to outboard.

After looking closer I agree with EZ.

Doesn't look like an open bow to me. Looks like the guy put a platform on top of it and calls it open bow?

Thanks for confirming what I was thinking. I do know I have seen a few without splashwells but they were much earlier boats.

Sounds like a good one to walk away from.

Indeed. That's about as close to totalled as an SC can get.

Thanks EZ

I had found another one where the guy cut down a 21' cuddy, he cut 4" off the boat all the way around, then installed cedar rails and floor to hold it together. It's been sitting for 6 years since he did the work.

His price over the phone was $400, I'm almost tempted to buy it keep the cedar and the 2 axle trailer and see how much I get for scrap. Bad part is it's not close to home.

What a debacle...I guess you cold throw a short shaft outboard jet drive and run it on the river.

With no splashwell I would not take it on the big lakes though:)

I will have to say that I would not run it on the Columbia either, just asking for trouble.

Really looks bad from inside the boat looking out. Safty first. best pass other than find a problen on the water.
