I have a mercury 1000 circa 1965 and I cant figure out how to connect the throttle cable. I got the shift cable in its trought with the spring lock but I cant see where the throttle cable is held into place. Im not talking about on the linkage but were on the housing to stablize the cable while the throttle cable is sliding in and out..

Ok I'll try to describe. It is just like the shift cable connection. The shift cable has a small block attached to the lower motor cowl support where it connects. The throttle cable is the same. It has its own little block about 6 inches futher back and about 1 in or so higher than the shift block. Both blocks are bolted from the inside of the lower cowl housing. It may have come off.
