Here is what I am thinking. I want to add two 6.5" tower speakers to the front boat to use when we are at and sand bar. I want to be able to control the volume for the two outside speakers and the 4 cabin speakers independent. That we can rock music outside the boat and people can just relax inside.
I am going to just keep the factory speakers in the cabin.
going to purchase 2 polk db651 speakers for the front.
6 channel amp(cabins off the rear channel and external off the front) - that should give me control
Future:
1 mono amp
1-2 subs(would like to keep portable so I can direct the sound) I may be nice to have a sub in the front with two 6.5" speakers.
In out ski boat we have 4 cabin speakers and two tower speakers and 1 8" polk sub. This does a really nice job and good sound. A pontoon is a lot more open space. Could I get away with two 8" subs? I don't need massive sub boxes in the way.
Another question: will going with larger speakers in the front give me better sound and more bass without getting a sub? 8" or 6x9 speaker?
Looking for thoughts on this setup and any recommendations from seasoned pontooners.
