three carb adjustments

I have a 2002 yamaha 90 H.P. with triple carbs. At idle, they cough and die and when throttled they run rough and sometimes die also. What are the starting points at which to adjust the carbs. Would they be something like one and one half turns counterclockwise to start? How do I syncronize them to get the best performance? I have changed plugs, drained old fuel from carbs, changed all fuel filters, installed a fuel/water separator and about everything else I can think of. Any more suggestions?

Re: three carb adjustments

1 1/2 turns is the norm for most motor's low speed jets.to get best idle only adjust while engine is in water(backpressure) and adjust from bottom to top carb.Adjust 1/8 turn in or out.Good luck.

have the carbs ever been cleaned and set by a Yamaha repair shop? might be time to have it done. Good luck!
