1) What would be the minimum clearance from the tip of the blade to the underside of the cavitation plate?

2) Are there any opinions on Props like the Michigan Vortex with the removable hubs? The seem to be had for very good prices.

3) Will 15 spline OMC and 15 spline Merc props interchange?

Ayuh,...

#1,... If it Clears,... It Clears...
#2,... Donno...
#3,... Yes, the OMC prop will fit the Merc., But, the Merc. prop won't go on the OMC.... It's the Depth of the splines...

Re: Three Prop Questions! All I/O's

The Vortex prop is a very well made prop manufactured by Michigan. I like it ---quality manufacturing and fit and finish. It runs--on my engine-- about 500 RPM slower than the same pitch Michigan brand stainless, BUT---top end speed is the same. If you anticipate changing the hub for any reason, use some anti seize on it. The inside of the aluminum prop eventually corrodes some and then you need a press to get the hub out if you do not protect the aluminum. Even though the inside is painted, corrosion still starts. I would recommend removing the hub periodically just to keep it free.

All in all, no complaints about the prop. I would buy another.

Only addendum: On the Force engines (both single and dual exhaust) with an anode behind the prop, it is necessary to remove the anode and they do not tell you that. The webs inside the prop interfere with the anode. On later Force dual exhaust lower units, the anodes are on the side of the lower so this is not a problem.
