I opened this motor my wife got to see what I could use out of it. I was able to save two of the three crank ring seals (pwn LOL). I was able to save some gaskets, head gasket is in great condition (Frank). But lo and behold the piston came out all four with three rings on each piston. Is this something aftermarket or did Chrysler experiment?

Oh yeh I am so glad I didnt plan on reusing this block every one of the exhaust plate bolts snapped with one look at them gees.

Note to self: Anti seize is a mechanics friend

Re: Three ring piston?

Early Chryslers had three rings stock. I would not be surprised if the wrist pin is pressed into the rod small end and two needle bearings carry it in the piston bosses. That's why all Chrysler and Force engines have short rods: They needed the room on the piston and when they went to two rings with needle bearings in the rod small end, they never changed the rod length or piston machining for wrist pin position.
