Hi there, I have a 94 Tracker 170TF, I need to replace the throttle cable on a Quicksilver 3000, I am trying to remove the control, I got all 6 bolts off but unable to remove to get access to the cable, Need some help. Thanks in advance.
UPDATE:Just wanted to let anyone and everyone know that I finally succeeded in removing the throttle arm, though it was a bit more difficult than I expected.I think the problem lies in the fact that you can't see exactly how the neutral button is attached to the rest of the assembly. There is no lip or flange surrounding the radius of the button but it does have about a three inch shaft extending from the inside center of the button. It's the end of this shaft that fits VERY snugly into the cable box holding it in place.Pull the throttle back (reverse) about 1/4 to 1/2 way. The key to getting the neutral button out is applying equal amounts of pulling pressure on opposite sides of the button. Two small flatblade screwdrivers across from each other should work fine. Once the button is out use an 18mm deepwell socket to remove the bolt holding the throttle arm on. Now the arm should come off rather easily...
Hi there, thank you for your reply, I will check into it, my next question is how do you remove the control out of such a small hole in the panel to get to the throttle cable. Do you have to turn the control in an angle to get it out. Thanks.
I have no experience with your setup, however, often times you can indeed turn the remote at an angle so that you can gently pull it through the hole. If it won't fit, do you have some sort of access beneath the gunnel?
Pics would go a long way....
Hi there, I got it out, but I have to brake the throttle button in order to get access to the bolt, now I need to look foe a replacement button, I am having a hard time looking for it because it is kind of a rectangular shape. Thanks a lot for your help.
