The throttle linkage may be going past WOT. When the throttle plates are truly horizontal (inline with the carb throat), you are at WOT. The linkage sometimes aloow the plates to go past horizontal which actuaaly is slowwing her up.
Good luck

You really need to start over with your "synch & link". You might find other issues that resolve your problem.

"sync & linc" is probably gonna win this one.Just be sure ,when you're done, the throttle plates don't open past horzontal.

DHP

now you will need the service manual. no other way.
study it well while eating wheaties before wrenching to gain an understanding of all that happens as ther throttle arm is moved.

sync & link involves matching the timing advance to the initial opening of the throttle plates. One of the FINAL steps is adjusting for Wide Open Throttle as well as full spark advance.

DHP

Two things here Randy. First, you do not adjust the trottle cable to get wide open throttle. That's done with the link&sync procedure. The link&synch makes sure all of the linkage rods and cams are properly adjusted. Also at wide open throttle the throttle plates must per perfectly horizontal in the carb throat. Any more or any less is not acceptable. You really need a service manual for this process. Its far too lengthy to go into here. Once the link&synch is complete, then the throttle cable trunion is adjusted so it matches up with the lever on the engine.
