throttle and shift cables

Does my 1958 evinrude starflite fat 50 use type "400" control cables? I assume it does.

Second, is the same cable used for throttle and shifter or are there seperate cables?

Yes, you need to use the 400 series cables.
The cables are the same between the throttle and shift, the throttle cable MIGHT be a little longer as it goes to the other side of the engine, measure the old cables to get the proper lenth.
