throttle cable adjustment

i have a 85 50hp johnson new to me pontoon no tach but seems to idle to fast, i noticed someone had adj the blackknob on the cable inside the engine compartment all the way , also notice the idle screw was not against the stop so i adj it so theidle screw against the stop. after doing that the throttle cam dont open the butterflies all the way when i give it full throttle. does that sound like something is not right.thanks for any comments:confused::joyous:

yup, probably not right. need to lync and synk. model number please.

Get a factory service manual and go through a complete link and sync on it for starters, Before that, do a compression test on it so you know you have something to work with.

thanks jakedaawg, and boobie, model is j50tlcob, will check compression. the motor runs just fine if it is adjusted all way out thanks againfor your help:happy:
