Throttle cable clip keeps coming off

This little U-shaped metal piece keeps popping off at all the wrong times on my throttle cable. It holds the housing in place so the cable itself can move. Any ideas to make it more permanent?

Dont know exactly what your talking about. morse 33 red cable??? Brass, u shaped thing? One end of that U thing longer than the other? BEND IT OVER.or is it a OMC aluminum U shaped thing? in that case install it towards the BRACKET and it will stay.

It's a Volvo Penta unit. Maybe it's similar to the OMC deal. Basically it's a small cylinder with a u-shaped cutout that slides over the cable housing, but the darn thing keeps coming out. This is one of the factors that caused my hydrolock a couple weeks ago.

take it off the cable, drive down to napa or whoever, and buy a new one. spring is probably about gone. or cable has been installed wrong and gets severe side angle somewhere in throttle stroke.
