it is possible you kinked the cable when putting it back in. All cable bends should be a large graceful bend to not kink it. If it is kinked you need a new one. post a pic of the cable. You can also unhook the cable from the motor and stretch it out straight to see if it moves easy. If if does then there is something binding in the motor. If not it's the cable. I am assuming you did not take it loose at the box.

tx for the advice... i did not take it loose at the box... took it from the motor... although i know in the process of trying to figure out how to disconnect it... i know i rotated the barrel nuts (not sure what they are called...the brass fittings at the ends...) i will disconnect it at the motor and stretch it out... are they any specific adjustments to this or either it fits or doesn't sort of thing...? tx

the brass barrel are to adjust the cable. I have not looked at my manual to see, but I usually adjust them to neutral lines up with neutral on my control box, but I am running an old two stick box and an older motor. A kink in the cable is what I think it might be. Fred
