I read lots of other posts, couldn't find this question, so if it has been answered, my apologies.

Those who have read my posts in the past know that I was having idle problems, well I have those fixed (fuel pump, carb adjust, etc).

Now... I can advance my throttle lever just fine, but when I return the throttle lever to neutral, the cable isn't "bottoming" out on the idle adjust screw, it is staying advanced some. So I grab the cable by the carb and push it "home" and down goes the idle.

Is this a weak spring in the carb?

Is this a problem with the throttle cable near the carb?

-or-

Is this a problem with the throttle cable near the control box?

Thanks in advance!

most likly an improperly adjusted trunion at the carb end of the cable. thats why its adjustablbe :)
you may have to lengthen it a bit. its held on the rocker cover on that one I belive, the cable anchor at the engine end is adjustable.

Those blasted trunions!!!!!!

(right now I am searching my manual just as Columbus searched for the new world so I can discover what a trunion is)

There is no fiddling to this adjustment. Remove the throttle cable from the linkage at the engine. Make sure the throttle lever on the control box is in the neutral position. Push the throttle linkage on the engine against the idle stop. Now adjust the trunion forward or back until the fitting at the end of the throttle cable is in perfect alignment with the engine linkage. Pop is back on.

Thank you, got it adjusted, now it purrs like it is supposed to.

It looks daunting until you try it... then it's not so bad.
