I have a 2002 Bayliner 175 Capri, I/O 135hp 4cyl engine. I took it out for the first time this year about two weeks ago, and cruised around at wide open throttle for a few hours and everything was fine. Yesterday I took it to a much smaller no wake lake to do some fishing, and noticed it is having trouble engaging into forward gear(excessive grinding). Plus, when it does engage, it seems to engage too far forward on the control. Any Ideas what it could be??? I'm hoping it is something minor like a cable, or some adjustment. Thanks in advance.!

You don't say what drive, but my guess is the lower shift cable.

Does the throttle give alot more resistence while putting it in gear than it does 'throttle only'?

Oh, it's a mercruiser alpha one. And yes, it does seem a bit more resistant when putting it in gear vs. just throttle.

Can anyone tell me how to adjust this? I called a couple places online, and they said, that it's likely a routine adjustment that it needs because the cable stretches a little with use, and being that my unit is so new. Thanks..
