I water tested the Lowes boat today. It has a 1984 35 mercury and the throttle cable is slipping in the control at drivers seat. I removed the control from the side and the throttle and shift cable have a metal bar with 2 screws. upon removing that I found the parts that hold the throttle are down at least 3/4 " from touching the bar I removed. Its a split piece that is supposed to hold the cable but it seems to be missing something in between the split lock and the bar I removed. Is it supposed to have another piece on top of the split ring? maybe a spacer or a spring??
