Put my 2005 BW Sport 130 with a 40HP Mercury in the water on Wednesday. Trouble keeping it an idle in neutral. Was able to open the throttle fully and the boat planed nicely. Took it out on Friday and attempted to do the same. It started to plane, then all of a sudden it revved up with no forward motion. After a couple of attempts, the throttle fuuly open provided me with minimum speed and nowhere near planing levels. It might be noted that the motor has been in storage for a couple of years. Upon further investigation, with the help of a mechanic, it was determined that the motor was shifting out of gear when the throttle was wide open. He kept pressure on the linkage and we were able to plane nicely. He said that the linkage needs adjustment. Any help?
