Throttle goes about 1/4 until catching.

1989 Mercruiser 305 with Alpha 1 gen 1. Is there a problem or is just an adjustment with throttle. Must move handle 1/4 way forward until boat moves forward

Ayuh,.... Sounds pretty normal to me,...

The 1st bit of controller stroke is the shift, then the throttle takes up,....

Unless it is throttling up before going into gear it sounds right to me.
