It a 1988 19' Sea Ray Cuddy Cabin with a 4.3L Merc. Alpha 1. The Throttle/Shift Handle stays loose. Its a Quick Silver. I use an allen wrench to tighten it and its fine. It dosent take much to make this thing loosen up again. Any suggestions or maybe I can use lock tite or do I have another problem? I haven't found yet a break down of this handle so I dont want to take it apart yet. It has the tilt/Trim built into it and the throttle button to increase throttle out of gear is close to the very bottom of the handle.

If it's the quicksilver variety that's been discontinued, there's an allen set screw on the front bottom of the lever itself that can get loose and let the handle slide out a little on the splines.

take the set screw all the way out and clean it good to get all the grease off it. Try a little finger-nail polish remover or laquer thinner. then put a spot of finger-nail polish on the threads and let it dry for a bit. tighten it good and when the nail polish dries it will help to keep it from vibrating out again, but will be able to break it loose if you ever have to. lock-tite makes a product that does the same thing. I'm sure you can find a drop of nail polish cheaper.

I will try the nail polish today and see if it holds up and report back.

Thanks

I would use the same method but with Loctite blue instead.
