On my 1990 Johnson 115 Crossflow, I notice that the Throttle Cam Lever on the engine, being as it is curved, will when set up right, fully advance the spark advance when the cam follower roller is about half way up on its travel. It will not advance spark advance rod any further after that point. This means that the spark is fully advanced quite a ways before the carbs are fully open.
