Throttle Linkage vs WOT vs Prop

Hello. New boater here. I have a 1993 Larson Escapade 240. It is 24' with a 225hp, 5L, Mercruiser. At wot I am at about 4200 rpm and a speed of about 34mph. It seems like I should be going faster. In fact, earlier this year I swear I was at about 39mph. The speed is coming off a built-in depth finder (no display other than depth).

I understand there is a relationship between the prop and the rpm. But how do I know if the throttle linkage is actually adjusted so as to achieve wot? IE, what if it is only 2/3 wot when I have the throttle all the way forward? How do I confirm?

Thanks very much.

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,...... Ya take the flame arrester off, 'n Look down at the throttle plates, at idle, 'n at Wot,.....

You've got a smaller motor option, 'n at 4200 rpms at Wot, I'd drop down a step in prop pitch, to bring the rpms up, 'n let it breathe,...

Is this a dock boat, or trailer boat,..??
