Not sure what is going on but when I am at a stand still and then drop the throttle i get a pause in the motor almost like it shuts down and then it takes off. One time I even thought that I heard a pop like a back fire. Would that have something to do with the spark plugs? Or What? Thanks for any help! Matt

Re: Throttle Problem

Sounds like a carb or ignition problem. You would get better responses by posting this in the forum section for your particular motor.

Re: Throttle Problem

Most likely a bad accelerator pump in the carb (could be timing, but less likely)... If you accelerate slowly up, does it do the same thing? Take the cover off the carb (with the engine NOT running) and have someone else push the throttle from idle to full open (while you hold the choke plate open). You should see a couple of solid jet of fuel being shot in....

Re: Throttle Problem

I have a MerCruiser 350 and it doesn't cut out when I accelerate slowly, and it doesn't do it all the time. I would stop and go and after the 4th time it was almost like nothing was wrong like the carb was just clearing its throat out the first couple of times.
Thanks,
Matt

Re: Throttle Problem

Strip and clean the carb... You have dirty in there somewhere...
