2000 mercruiser 4.3 was on the lake on fathers day running boat after complete outdrive rebuild,by the dealer I bought it from, remote oil reservior hose replace , checked the oil and my DA did not put cap back on, it got under throttle linkage on carb, while running wide open, came into a crowd of boats , went to slow down and control lever, a quicksilver 3000,would not pull back ,again, my DA ,panicked and forced lever back .Still wide open, I then just turned off ignition. pulled engine cover and found cap wedged under throttle linkage.eventually got it running but now it revs wide open sometimes and won't shift into gear at times. when I get it to shift into gear rev's high with about half powerand will pop out of gear and rev up very high,and hard shifting. Any idea's what I broke ? Everything looks ok on the engine, shift and throttle cables thanks for any help. hope to fix it myself, don't want to put it in the
shop again if possible
