I'm re-doing my side panels on my boat . The panels were so far gone , I didn't have to take the throttle apart to remove it .I just pulled the rotten wood away from it .I'm about to reinstall the new panels and need to reattatch the throttle .for the life of me, I can't get the handle to separate from the rest of the assembly. The handle goes on the outside of the panel and the main assembly is supposed to go behind it .it's loose but it won't separate .I don't know if there is a clip or something holding it together, but I really can't tell .it's a 1986 rinker open bow with a 120 mercruiser. Thanks for any suggestions .

Quicksilver set up. A Allen key in the handle take it out it comes right off. I went through the same thing.

I not an old pro but I had the exact problem with a teleflex control shifter. It was unscrewed alright but it was corroded on there making me think that there was still a bolt in it somewhere. I eventually soaked it down good with penetration fluid ( wd ) and the next day I grabbed it out of frustration and turned it and it came right off in my hand with no more problems.
you might give it a try .

I had the same problem with mine and ended up removing it by simply pressing in the button at the center of the throttle handle like you are putting the boat into neutral and shifting into forward as if wanting to rev the motor in neutral. Once in this position, the button goes into a floating position and can be popped out with the tip of a small flat head screwdriver. Once this button is out, you have access to the 7/16 nut that will remove the shifter handle and separate it from the part of the control that is hidden behind the panel.
