Throttle Sliding

I have a little 74' Johnson 2hp (2r74E). I started to use it as a kicker-Trolling motor and it seems the throttle lever slides when I'm between the fast and start positions. Its a slow slide but every 5 min or so I have to throttle it back up towards fast. My questions is this normal for this outboard or do I have to maybe adjust the throttle lever under the hood? Other than that this little motor great thanks to J.Reeves and his Carb Adjustments!
