When I idle or wot in both neutral and in gear the throttle wants to turn itself down to the off position. My 6hp stays right where you put it. Why is this happening? When I rebuilt the ignition I tooke the throttle linkage apart and didn't tighten the pivot bolt down too hard. Is this my problem? When it idles the spring loaded nylon thing that pushes against the flywheel kind of whizzz whizzzes. Help please, -woody74

I still think it sounds like the flywheel is slightly hitting the ignition coils. Either the armature plate is too loose, or the coils were set too far past the bosses.

It could very well be the coils hitting the flywheel. The armature plate has no visible slop and I set up the coils which means I could definately have done this wrong. Thanks so much for the starting point on my troubleshooting Paul. You really have a vast amount info on these motors and are kind to share with all of us. -woody74
